5 Reasons to Elope in 2020

Make it an adventure!

Often when couples first think about the idea of eloping, certain pre-conceptions come to mind like a spontaneous getaway to Vegas. I’m here to tell you that elopements or small intimate weddings can be so much more than that. Life is an adventure and here is your chance to plan something extraordinary!  Get creative. What could a very small group or just the two of you do to declare your love that you could never do with a large wedding gathering of a hundred or more guests?

What is it that you and your partner are passionate about? What if your wedding day could truly reflect that?  For example, maybe you and your partner love sailing.  You could plan an excursion on a sailboat to a private location to exchange vows followed by a sunset dinner on the boat or beach.

Focus on your love

Without all of the worry and stress, the day can truly be all about just the two of you and the commitment you are making to each other. Make it private and unique with your personal touch. Enjoy a more intimate experience without having to be the center of attention. Let’s be real…planning a large wedding can be an extremely time consuming and stressful experience. Less drama means you can focus on the connection between you and your partner.

Really dive deep into the reasons you wanted to marry in the first place. Having an elopement adventure that reflects your personalities means that you will be able to really soak in every moment.

Extravagance for two..or ten

When budgeting for just the two of you or a small group of close family and friends you have the luxury of spending in a different way. What extravagance have you always wished for? Rather than spending money on an ice sculpture or personalized cocktail napkins that will end up being thrown away, you can invest that money into something unforgettable.

Want to hop in a helicopter to get to a mountain peak?  Let’s go! Want to spend the week exploring Tuscany? I’m in!  Always dreamed of going to Bali? I’ll take you to my secret spot at Melasti Beach for incredible photos. Maybe an intimate ceremony overlooking the cliffs of Big Sur is more your style? Consider following that up by hiring a private chef to prepare an unforgettable dinner.

Your elopement doesn’t have to be limited to a one hour event. Make an entire day out of it or take a week long trip. Multi-day coverage means that you can invest in the things that will matter to you and have something that you can cherish and re-live forever.

Get the best possible photos and video

Now that you’ve let your imaginations run wild, think of how epic your photos and elopement film will be! Without being restricted to a traditional wedding day timeline we can plan your experiences with imagery in mind. One of the things that makes me unique is that I am a photographer and a filmmaker. Depending on the event I can switch between the two mediums or bring my associate to assist. Because we work together in a team this creates a cohesive style and allows us to collaborate in a way that adds to your stress free experience.

By far, my favorite wedding and elopement films all have one thing in common... a strong connection between the couple. Slowing down and being present on your day will allow those emotions to translate in your photos and film. When you are in your element there is no need for staged scenes or awkward poses. Just be you. I’ll tag along on during your activities and capture your memories in an authentic manner with my cinematic touch. I’ll guide you when needed, offering advice for ways to capture beautiful imagery and then step back and let you soak in the day.

Don’t put your life on hold

Why wait? Don’t put your life on pause. Will large gatherings even be allowed next year? Will things shut down and have to be postponed again?  You can elope this year without worrying about the safety of your guests. No one wants to get Grandma sick.

Don’t forget, you can still have a reception party down the road when social gatherings return. And that too can truly reflect who you are by not being limited to wedding traditions. You could wear a sexy cocktail dress or hire a disco band. It can be as formal or informal as you like. We can even play your amazing elopement film at the party so you can share with friends and family and show them what a fantastic wedding day you had.
