Finding the right wedding videographer to capture your day is one of the biggest decisions you will make for your wedding, and there are many important factors you need to consider before hiring.
You want to make sure you’ve fallen in love with their style, their brand, and their feel. You also want to have an immediate connection that can’t be found working with someone else.
That’s why I encourage all my prospective clients, first and foremost, to get involved in the process and do a little work on their end to establish a relationship.
If, after you’ve checked out my work and love what I’ve created in the past, tell me about it. Whether it’s just a simple comment on the Facebook page or meeting for a drink to talk shop before the wedding, this let’s me know that you have more than a passive interest in choosing to work with me.
To that end, I enjoy being selective with who I work with as well. To be honest, I am not interested in taking over the world and shooting every wedding possible. It’s more important for me that we connect and get to know one another’s style, personality, and interests in order to make the wedding a personal experience for both of us.
Then, the sky’s the limit on what we can create together. If you have an amazing idea or concept that you would like to incorporate into your film, like spending an extra day or two filming some adventure videos, we can find fun ways to make that work.
Ultimately this puts me in a very unique position of only taking on the clients that are a good fit for me. For instance, last year I was contacted by a groom and we had a great connection immediately over the phone. The biggest thing he communicated was that he wanted his wedding video to look and feel like a film. I knew what he meant without him having to say much more.
This groom was already someone who loved film and could appreciate the art of what I make. He wasn’t looking for me to pull random images of their wedding together with music behind it. He wanted it to be of movie quality and stylized perfectly, which is what I did. (Want to see? Check it out here!)
Like this groom, all my clients appreciate that I don’t do things the same way as everyone else. The truth is, I treat my work like an art, and each wedding as a challenge to deliver something unique and beautiful to the couples who hire me. My videos aren’t ever going to be ‘corny’ or ‘cheesy.’ For example, I won’t make videos that are black and white then it turn to color as the couple kisses. It’s not that this type of video is bad, but it isn’t my style or personality. So, if you are someone who wants a wedding video like this, that’s ok! But you’ll be better off with someone else.
My priority is to make this is a good fit for both of us, because if I’m not the right person for the job I’ll be the first to tell you.
If you feel like you have a creative vision for your wedding video that is not entirely like others you’ve seen, or if your goal is to capture those moments that are a little outside of the box, and unique to you as a couple, then I could be for you.
Make sure to check out one of the videos to see if my style is what you’re looking for. If it is, then let’s talk!
