An Intimate Joshua Tree Vow Renewal
Carolyn and Juan-Pablo chose the desert as the perfect backdrop for their intimate Joshua Tree Vow Renewal. Their children would ask why they weren’t in the couple’s wedding photos so they decided to celebrate 12 years of marriage by including them in an intimate desert ceremony.
Their children participated in their Joshua Tree Vow Renewal ceremony by walking their parents down the aisle, acting as ring bearer’s and bringing the couple their vow books.
The film is a mix of their live audio capturing during the ceremony and poetry read by the couple. The poem is something I selected titled “To the Desert” by Benjamin Alire Sáenz.
The meditative voice over explores themes of nature, transcendence and contains philosophical and spiritual overtones. It is an homage to one of my favorite filmmakers, Terrance Malick.
Are you considering eloping or a renewing your vows? I also shoot film photography for intimate elopements and weddings.
